205 Miles: Evansville to Crawfordsville
Race C2C for 2007 is starting on the banks of the 'Beautiful River' in downtown Evansville and riding North to the shore of Lake Michigan at the Indiana Dunes State Park.
One member of each team will gather at the starting line at 6:30 am Central Time on the greenway at the Convention and Visitors Bureau 'Pagoda' at 401 S.E. Riverside Drive.
Registration will be at the C.V.B. parking lot Friday evening from 7-10 pm and Saturday morning from 5-6 am C.D.T. The pre-race meeting will be at 6 am.
The race begins by riding through Sunset Park and onto Waterworks Rd. Waterworks Rd. will cross US 41 and riders will continue east to Weinback where they will turn left and go north to Pollack. The intersection of Pollack and Weinback is where teams can make their first exchange or add additional riders to the course.
Turn right on Pollack where you will race east for 4.2 miles*. There is a 90 degree left turn just before Pollack Ts into Newburgh Rd.(Rt. 662). Turn right and ride into the town of Newburgh. Downtown you will turn lft. on Old 261. There are several possible exchange areas on this road. A church, school and stores. Always exchange on the right side of the road.
It is 2.4 mi. from where you turn north to the intersection of Hwy. 66. Follow all traffic signals.
Continue north on 261 for 6.3 mi. This will take you to Rt. 62 west of Boonville. 62 goes through Boonville and angles left. at the east edge of town. Stay on 62 all the way to Gentryville. There are several turns on 62 so please consult your maps.
Before you fly through Gentryville turn rt. on 162 and race past Lincoln St. Park. 162 turns north or left just past Holiday World Theme Park. 162 will take you all the way to Jasper. At the south edge of Jasper 162 turns left and heads west for a mile or two to US 231 which jogs north through Jasper. There are a couple turns in town so support teams need to make sure their riders stay on 231 and head north to Haysville. (amazingly many people have never visited Haysville)
US 231 heads through Loogootee taking the teams all the way to Bloomfield. Riders will now follow a winding 157 to Worthington (a change from last year's route) and get back on 231 North. 231/67 goes all the way to Spencer where 231 jogs north, or left, at McDonalds. A few more good hills until you get to Greencastle then 321 flattens out for a 28 ½ mile push into Crawfordsville.
The final exchange will be no closer to C-ville than St. Rd. 234. One rider only from each team to the finish.
The finish line will be at the south edge of town. We will let you know the exact place at the pre-race meeting. Look for the Coast to Coast banner.
